Lara Scott Art Gallery

Lara Scott is an artist and writer based in central New York. In 2016, she began the artist's book series, The Metamer Quarterly, dedicated to two main propositions: that things of beauty, wisdom, and universal interest can be found everywhere, made by anyone; and that vocation requires working at one’s craft with diligence, delight, and ambition. These propositions drive her paintings and collages as well. That, and a deep love of color, oil paint, and paper of all sorts.

Lara holds a B.A. in art from Yale University, and an M.F.A. in painting from Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania. She taught studio and digital arts for some years at two small colleges in the south and midwest. In 2008 she quit her job as an associate professor to pursue a different balance of artmaking and wage earning. She worked for GOLDEN Artist Colors in New Berlin as a R&D lab tech for several years, and would love to talk to you about paint and color. She now works at the Colgate Bookstore in textbooks.

Find her on Instagram at lara.scott.art and online at themetamerquarterly.blogspot.com and get in touch via Instagram or at larascott@gmail.com.
